New Day Running Light - DRL II (Episode 2)

Only lasting 1 year..

My previous DRL failed to light up at all. First of all, i checked that the fuse is not broken. Suspected that the wiring had a problem, may be the wire was cut at the middle of somewhere from power source to ON OFF switch. But there is nothing wrong with the connectivity. Very confused. How come out of sudden all the LED inside the DRL were fail to light up.

So, sent the car to accessories shop near my home after giving up the effort. He said my DRL had a total failure. Cannot be used at all..Confused again, as far as i know, there is rarely case that all the LEDs would be broken at the same time. OK la...whatever. I bought a new set of DRL. This time the price is double the previous one - RM150/pair. The wiring is same, just replace the DRLs unit.

I brought back the 'broken' DRLs. Tried to light up using battery 12V. Weird the DRL had light up. Only 1 LED had a problem. All are fine!! How can this LEDs did not light up when attached together with the wiring?? Hahahah...maybe my car just 'merajuk' want a new small eye..

 Worth it? Look at the picture below..hehehe :)

The light is so bright. Even my normal night driving just use the DRL + fog lamp as a replacement for my projector lamp (main lamp). hahaha, can save power use to power on the HID ballast..huhuhuhuu..

KENWOOD HU DDX-630W

My no-brand 2 DIN DVD player had an issue. Already 2 years since using this HU, the touchscreen screen is no more functioning. The touchscreen availability was becoming the 'press-screen'..huhuhuhu..
Need significant of force to execute the on screen function.
Feel tired of this problem.

I chose the KENWOOD DDX-630W for my new ICE this year plus no-brand 7-inch headrest monitor (2pcs) with zipper. I do not like zipper type because the zipper will be broken eventually but no choice since the seller only have this type of headrest monitor.

KENWOOD DDX-630W general specs:

1. Normal 2 DIN size of player (suit well with Alphard ANH10W), do not know either can suit the size of
    Vell fire or ACR50W because i noticed that some of these car had more than 2 DIN size compartment
    for monitor)
2. Support reverse camera, DVD format (strictly non-compatible with dual-layer DVD)
3. 2 input of audio-video (AV)
4. No Bluetooth, No navigation
5. Panel colour (LED light, in picture- blue) can be changed to other colour or alternately change to other
    color continuosly.
6. MP3, AVI, MP2, DVD format.
7. Compatible for Apple product (iPod nano,iPod touch, iPhone 3G/3GS/4/4S)
8. Can play VIDEO at back monitor (headrest) and front monitor (speaker) listening to the radio.
    But of course la, yr kids will watch the video cartoon without audio..heheh., but it suit my need..hehe

It also support Iphone 5. Own an iphone5 and it works fine. Also can charge Iphone 5 through this USB port. No more bring along your USB car charger plug n play to the 12V socket (cigeratte socket).

The disadvantages in my opinion:

1. The reverse camera :  Did not appear automatically whenever the reverse gear is engaged.
                                      Previous HU had this function whenever the reverse gear is engaged even the HU is                                       in OFF. This KENWOOD need to be ON at least in STANDBY stage.
                                      I prefer to completely OFF all the ICE unit to avoid any damage (in-rush current)
                                      to the units when the car is ignited.

2. Video format : MPEG4/MP4 cannot be played on this device. AVI format can be played.
                           Direct download from YouTube, normally in .avi format should be able to be played but
                           this unit cannot identify this format ( from YouTube download). So, need to convert
                           the .avi format to .mp2.

3. Audio Quality : Yes, if install SubWoofer, the sound is WOOOOO!!! But my Alphard does not have any
                            subwoofer. Just OEM speaker. The quality?? ermmmmm... Compare to previous HU,
                            that's was a huge downgrade.No BOOM.BOOM  bass anymore. Wondering, not bad
                            the previous HU.. miss the boom boom sound..

4. The source : USB stick (pendrive), but no SD card reading.
